Perry vs Avon - Girls Varsity Basketball
This game that will go down as one of the most exciting in recent history, the Perry Yellowjackets avoided falling to the Avon Braves for the third time this season as they posted a 37-36 win over the Braves in a Class CC sectional semifinal game at Honeoye Falls-Lima. Meghan Wheeler had just four points for the Yellowjackets but her fourth point, a free throw with three-tenths of a second left gave Perry the win.
Kacey Kwiecien had 15 points to pace Perry while Megan McClurg added 8 as the Yellowjackets won the second and fourth quarters. Avon who had the better in the first and third periods was led by Kirsten Vallone with a game-high 17 points. Lindsay Schwab was next with 7 as Avon ends the season 20-2.
Perry (18-4) will face Bloomfield in the championships on Wednesday, February 28 at Rush-Henrietta. The Bombers knocked off South Seneca earlier in the day 55-51.
